Short Biography 

Antonie Angerer holds an M.A. in Chinese Studies and East Asian & European Art History from Zurich University. From 2014 – 2020 she built up the independent art and artistic research platform I: project space in Beijing around topics of urbanization, gender concepts in the Asia Pacific, independent space practice, and new media and digital art practices. Since 2015 she co-runs the long-term curatorial research platform Beijing22, documenting Greater Beijing’s urban transformation.

Research Project 

As part of the research team “Social worlds: China’s cities as spaces of worldmaking” Angerer is investigating representation of future urban and social utopias on the example of Xiongan New Area, taking particular interest in the function of public visual culture as mediator of legitimacies.
